Advertising policy
Version 2026-10-19 · Last updated: October 19, 2026
1. General principles
Nearboard exists so that people can find real businesses and professionals. That is why every listing must be truthful, useful and legal. This policy is part of the Terms and conditions.
- Be real: advertise a business or service you actually offer, under the name people know it by.
- Be clear: say what you do and where. Use your own details, not copied generic text.
- Be responsible: you answer for what you advertise and for your permits and licenses.
2. What your listing must have
- Correct business name, category and place (or “Online / remote”).
- Your own summary and description, with real information about your services.
- At least one main contact that works (phone, WhatsApp or email). The contact details must be yours or your business's.
- Images and logos that you own or have the right to use.
- The licenses or permits your activity requires where you operate, and not presenting yourself as something you are not.
3. What cannot be advertised
We do not publish listings for:
- services, products or activities that are illegal where they are offered;
- illegal drugs or their paraphernalia; weapons and explosives; controlled substances without authorization;
- scams and fraudulent schemes: pyramids, “get rich quick”, abusive or fake loans, fake prizes, misleading job offers;
- sexually explicit content or exploitative services; human trafficking;
- content that promotes hatred, discrimination, violence or harassment;
- counterfeit products or those that infringe copyrights, trademarks or patents;
- fake documents or services to forge them;
- unlicensed betting or gambling; health products with false or unproven cure claims;
- anything that puts people's safety or data at risk, such as deceptive capture of passwords or payments.
4. Misleading promises and claims
Do not use false claims or claims you cannot prove, such as “guaranteed results”, “100% safe”, “the best in town” without basis, fake discounts, invented reviews or testimonials, or prices you will not honor. Do not pass yourself off as another company, or use its name or logo without permission.
5. Regulated services
Some services require a license, certification or authorization (for example, contractors, electricians, health, lawyers, insurance, real estate, finance). If you offer one, you must hold that authorization and not suggest that you have one you do not have.
Immigration services: only those authorized by law to give that kind of help may advertise (for example, licensed attorneys or accredited representatives). Do not use the term “notary” to suggest you are a lawyer: in the United States a notary public cannot give legal advice.
We may ask you to prove your licenses before publishing or keeping your listing.
6. Review, reports and consequences
Every listing is reviewed before it is published, and any later change goes back to review. Anyone can report a listing from its page; we review the reports and act when appropriate.
If a listing breaks this policy we may: ask you to fix it, reject it, suspend it or remove it, and close accounts with serious or repeated violations. In those cases payments are not refunded (see cancellations and refunds). Where possible we will tell you the reason.
7. Questions or appeals
If you think we rejected or removed a listing by mistake, or you want to know whether something is allowed before publishing it, write to us at hello@nearboard.net.
